Tiny newborn tummies cannot hold a lot of food at once, so newborns tend to eat rather frequently. Typically, newborns eat approximately 8 times in a 24 hour period, but since every baby is unique it is always good to check with your pediatrician and/or lactation consultant to see that you are on the right track and to make sure that your baby is gaining weight/thriving. Here are some common newborn hunger signs to keep an eye out for:
*Putting his hands in/near his mouth
*Waking up and becoming more alert
*Making sucking motions with her mouth
*Flexing his arms or hands
*Restless body movements
*Searching for breast when you hold her
*Starting to fuss
