Recent Statement from American Academy of Pediatrics: https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/babies-sleep-parents-room-first-us-doctors-111922434.html Did you know that the timing of when your child eats can have an impact on how well he or she sleeps? While the proper timing of meals will not solve sustained sleep problems, it can make it easier and more comfortable for your child to sleep well and since we all want our children to sleep well, here are a few tips to make sure an ill-timed meal is not negatively impacting your child's sleep:
*It's best to avoid large meals right before bedtime. Try to make sure your child has at least 1 hour to digest his or her dinner before going to sleep. Children and adults alike need time to properly digest food. A large meal right before bed can potentially cause indigestion and/or worsen acid reflux, if present. *It is preferable for your child to eat his or her largest meal at lunchtime and have a slightly smaller meal at dinnertime. *A small snack about 30 minutes before nap time can be a good idea if you're concerned that your child may wake early due to hunger. Ideally, the snake should be healthy (no caffeine, nothing sugary) and not too large.
